Today, I thought we'd look at some odd ways to boost your immunity. So, without further ado, let us begin:
1. Go for a walk in the woods.
It's easy, just walk in the woods. Scientists have now been recommending Forest therapy after a research found that people who spent time hiking 6 hours a day for 2 days had tremendous effects on their white-blood cells. Their white blood-cells became much more stronger. The sunlight outside also contains Vitamin D which is necessary for strong teeth and bones. But you don't have to go out for 6 hours, just a few minutes a day can benefit one in the long run. Don't live in the woods? Just talk a walk outside and have some fresh air. You'd be surprised at how that could benefit you.
2. Try singing in the shower.
Don't be embarrassed. I always sing in the shower too. But that's nothing to be embarrassed of. Actually, singing in the shower can actually be good for you. Music increases your white-blood cells' production and therefore raises your ability to fight disease-causing organisms. So if you sing in the shower, try using this excuse if anyone hears you.
3. Eat lots of fermented foods.
I love yogurt and I even loved it more when I discovered that it is good for my immunity. Fermented foods have a great effect on your gut health where most of your immune system is located. So, why not try drinking some yogurt, kefir or kombucha?
4. Eat Mushrooms.
Mushrooms have been found to activate the natural killer cells in our body. Don't like mushrooms? Don't worry. Just one serving a day is enough to boost your immunity. You can also try making mushroom tea. Just be careful! Some mushrooms are quite deadly so choose wisely before you buy that mushroom.
5. Start your day with a cold shower.
Study showed that people who took cold showers had a 29% reduction in absence due to sickness in school and work. Cold showers don't necessarily prevent the sickness totally but reduce the impact diseases have on us. The study also showed that cold showers trigger the body's immune system regardless of the duration.
6. Chew your food properly.
Mummy always said that you should chew your food properly. Now more than ever, you should follow her advise. "Th17" immune cells are released when you chew your food. These cells help in defending your body against infections and harmful organisms.
7. Eat garlic and onions.
Eat raw ginger, garlic and onions. These spices have numerous effects on your health and I can guarantee you that they will improve your health as I'm speaking from my own experience. You can also check out this drink that combines all those three ingredients. Also, make sure you take some breath mints after this or your breath will smell really bad.
8. Have some of your boogers.
The theory is that since mucus traps germs before reaching your body, eating your boogers will train your body to fight this germs. Although this delicacy may not at all seem like a pleasure to you, it is quite beneficial.
In other words, you don't have to worry too much about touching your own germs because it can stimulate your immune system.
9. Use less hand sanitizer.
Unless you are in the doctor's office or places where disease-causing organisms are prevailing, avoid using hand sanitizers. Too much of anything, even a good thing, is bad for your health. Using too much hand sanitizers is unnecessary. Actually, there is quite a debate between soap and sanitizers, especially during this Covid-19 period and it seems like soap is winning. So let's stick to the old-fashioned way of cleaning our hands.
10. Hug that dog of yours.
Of course, man's best friend. Cuddling your dog has a very good impact on your immune system, especially if you are undergoing stress and depression. Walk your dog, play with your dog and your immunity will increase. Don't have a dog? Volunteer at a local shelter or borrow your friend's dog for a while.
The takeaway? Keeping healthy doesn't have to be so hard. It's simple. All you need is dedication and the the rest will come naturally.
Goodbye. Hope you enjoyed this blog. See you later.☺
