Hello guys. Welcome to my blog. Today, we are going to discuss about our mother, earth. Our earth is full of wonders that we didn't even know existed. So today, I am going to highlight the 7 Natural Wonders of the Earth.
1.Mount Everest.
Location: Nepal and China.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain on earth at 8,448 meters above the sea level.
Fun fact: Mount Everest grows by about a quarter of an inch(0.25'') every year.
2. The Grand Canyon.
Location: Arizona, USA.
The Grand Canyon is recognized as a natural wonder because of its grand size. It is 277 miles in length, 18 miles in width, and 1800 meters deep.
Fun fact: The Grand Canyon was carved over some 6 million years.
3.Aurora Borealis.
Location: Various places.
The Aurora Borealis is a wonder of the world because of its beauty and glaring feature that leave spectators in awe.
Fun fact: Aurora Borealis can be visible from space.
4.Victoria Falls.Location: Zambia and Zimbabwe.Victoria Falls was referred to as a natural wonder of the world because it is the largest waterfall in the world with its height stretching to 108 meters.
Fun fact: Victoria Falls is home to a 'Moonbow', which is a rainbow at night.
5.Paricutin.Location: Michoacan, Mexico.
Paricutin is a cinder cone volcano. It was declared a natural wonder because it is the youngest volcano to form, having developed in a farmer's cornfield.
Fun fact: The Paricutin Volcano continued to erupt for 8 years until 1952. It is believed to be a monogenetic volcano which means that when it is finished erupting, it will never explode again.
6.The Great Barrier Reef.Location: Queensland, Australia.
Australia's Great Barrier Reef is not only the world's biggest living structure on earth but also has the largest coral reef system which is composed and built by billions of tiny organisms. Therefore, we can now see why it was selected as a World Heritage Site in 1981.
Fun fact: Corals only spawn once a year. Often after a full moon, the incredible phenomenon of coral reproduction takes place.
7.Harbour of Rio de Janeiro/ Guanabara Bay.
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Harbour of Rio de Janeiro is predominant as it is the world's largest bay. The Sugar Loaf Mountain and the Granite Monoliths add to its already bewildering nature by making it even more appealing.
Fun fact: Did you know that Rio de Janeiro is home to the largest urban forest in the world?
